Community & Content Policy — Rate My Server
Current as of the effective date below. This policy is pending final review by counsel; please contact us with any questions.
Effective date: July 2, 2026 · Contact / reports: trust@rate-myserver.com
Our promise
Rate My Server exists to help hospitality professionals build careers — not to tear anyone down. The platform is positive-only by design: there is no way to leave a negative review, star rating, or complaint about a person. Guests can only follow Pros and select positive endorsements.
This policy explains what's welcome, what isn't, and how we keep endorsements trustworthy and people safe.
What you can do
- Follow the Pros whose service you appreciate.
- Endorse them with positive tags that reflect a real experience (e.g., "Friendly," "Wine knowledge," "Great pours").
- Build your profile (Pros): your real role, work history, specialties, and awards.
What's not allowed
- Impersonation or false identity. Don't claim to be someone you're not, or misrepresent your role, employer, or experience.
- Fake or manipulated endorsements. No purchased, incentivized, automated, or self-created endorsements or followers, and no schemes to inflate the Hospitality Score.
- Misusing the platform to harm someone. Even though there are no public negatives here, you may not use the Service to harass, threaten, dox, or target any person on or off the platform.
- Forged verification. Don't submit fake receipts or falsified location/employment evidence.
- Spam and scraping. No bulk messaging, no automated data harvesting, no bulk export of profiles, followers, or endorsements.
- Employer/recruiter misuse (for future paid features): no using profile data to discriminate unlawfully or to contact followers/endorsers (whose identities we never disclose).
Keeping endorsements trustworthy
Endorsements power real career decisions, so we protect their integrity. We may rate-limit endorsements, weight verified-guest endorsements more heavily, detect anomalous spikes, and recalculate or remove endorsements and scores that appear manipulated. Verification (e.g., a receipt or at-venue check-in) is optional for guests but increases trust and a Pro's "verified guests served" count.
Follower and endorser privacy
The identities of the people who follow or endorse a Pro are private — even from that Pro. Pros see counts and aggregate endorsements only. Don't attempt to discover, infer, or contact a Pro's followers through the Service.
Profile ownership and claiming
A Pro's profile and the reputation built on it belong to the Pro and are portable across employers. If someone created or is using a profile that impersonates you, you can claim your identity and request removal of the impersonating profile (see Reporting). We may ask you to verify your identity.
Reporting and takedowns
To report impersonation, a fake profile, manipulated endorsements, or harmful behavior, email trust@rate-myserver.com or use in-app Report. Tell us the profile involved and what's wrong.
- We review reports and may remove content, correct scores, or suspend or terminate accounts.
- For impersonation or name-and-likeness concerns, we will act to verify the rightful person and remove infringing material.
- For intellectual-property complaints (e.g., a photo used without permission), send a notice with the required details to dmca@rate-myserver.com; we honor a notice-and-takedown process and provide a path to counter-notice.
- We acknowledge reports within 24 hours and provide a first response within 3 business days, and act promptly on serious safety or impersonation issues.
Appeals
If we take action on your account or content and you believe it was a mistake, you may appeal to trust@rate-myserver.com. We will review and respond.
Enforcement
Depending on severity and history, we may warn, remove content, recalculate scores, restrict features, or suspend/terminate accounts. We prioritize protecting people's safety and the integrity of the positive-only system.
Changes
We may update this policy as the Service evolves. Material changes will be announced with a new effective date.
